Compassion-Focused Therapy
Building a Kind and Resilient Mind
Cultivating Self-Compassion for a Healthier You
Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) is designed to assist individuals who struggle with issues of shame, self-criticism, and emotional difficulties such as anxiety, depression, and trauma.
CFT integrates varied strategies—including imagery, breath-body work, mindfulness practices, and behavioral and thought experiments—to help you relate to yourself with greater kindness and understanding.
By learning to treat yourself gently, you can reduce harsh self-judgment, build emotional resilience, and foster a healthier relationship with yourself. Learning to be self-compassionate has been shown to reduces vulnerability to depression and anxiety.

How CFT Works:
CFT blends elements of mindfulness, acceptance, and compassion-based techniques. In our sessions we'll work to:
-
Cultivate Self-Compassion: Learn how to offer yourself kindness and support, especially during moments of difficulty, letting go of self-criticism.
-
Understand the roots of shame and self-criticism.
-
Engage in Mindfulness and Body-Based Practices: Practices like breath-body work and guided imagery help you stay present, notice your emotions while letting go of judgment.
These practices work together to help you build the emotional strength to face life’s challenges with gentleness and increased self understanding.
